Design and Analysis of a Novel Tendon-less Backbone Robot
A new type of backbone robot is presented in this paper. The core idea is to use a cross shape mechanism with the principle of functioning of the scissors linkages, known as a pantograph. Although this continuum arm acts quite similar to tendon-driven robot, this manipulator does not include any tendon in its structure. This design does not suffer from the weaknesses of the continuum design suc...
متن کاملPersistent Multi-Robot Formations with Redundancy
A multi-robot formation composed of autonomous agents may need to maintain an overall rigid shape for tasks such as collective transport of an object. To distribute control, we construct leader-follow formations in the plane that are persistent: designated “leader” robots control the movement of the entire formation, while the remaining “follower” robots maintain directed local links sensing da...
متن کاملAn investigation of the transmission system of a tendon driven robot hand
The transmission sys tem of the Utah /MIT Deztrous Hand (UMDH) is investigated theoretically and experimentally. I t i s shown that the f r ic t ion of the routing pulleys is not negligible and should be considered i n the force control of the UMDH. I n the frequency range of the pneumatic actuators (8OHz), tendons act like springs and the first mode of the tendons is above that frequency range.
متن کاملan investigation into translation of cultural concepts by beginner and advance student using think – aloud protocols
this research aims at answering the questions about translation problems and strategies applied by translators when translating cultural concepts. in order to address this issue, qualitative and quantitative study were conducted on two groups of subjects at imam reza international university of mashhad. these two groups were assigned as beginner and advanced translation students (10 students). ...
Effect of Robot-assisted and Unassisted Reaching Exercise on Voluntary Movement in Chronic Hemiparesis
A common therapeutic approach for the rehabilitation of patients with hemiparesis involves repetitive voluntary movements with manual assistance from a therapist (“active-assist therapy”). We used a novel robotic device to deliver a controlled form of active-assist therapy in chronic stroke patients (N = 7). To examine the utility of direct mechanical assistance in rehabilitation of voluntary a...
